As Hiring Slows, America Works CEO Explains Impact on Vulnerable Job Seekers, with Dr. Lee Bowes
In this HCI Webinar, I talk with Dr. Lee Bowes about the jobs report and slowing hiring. Dr. Lee Bowes is the Chief Executive Officer of America Works, a private workforce development organization founded in 1984. She joined the company in 1987 and co-developed the "Work First" theory, which emphasizes private-sector employment as the primary path out of poverty. Founded in 1984, America Works is a national workforce development organization committed to delivering real jobs, real support, and real results. With more than 30 million clients serving across 50+ states, America Works helps job seekers overcome employment barriers through rapid placement, individualized support, and employer partnerships. The organization places clients on average in about seven weeks and maintains a retention rate of more than 70%, reflecting its performance-based approach to workforce success.

The AI Productivity - J Curve Why Your Enterprise Rollout Feels
This research explores the complex organizational evolution required to move from basic artificial intelligence access to tangible business value. Research indicates that while generative AI has diffused rapidly, its success depends on complementary investments in human capital, redesigned workflows, and robust governance rather than just technical acquisition. Current data reveals that larger, knowledge-intensive firms lead in adoption, though intensive usage is often driven by junior-level employees across diverse job functions. Organizations capturing the most value treat AI integration as a long-term transformation characterized by structured piloting, role-specific training, and the creation of feedback loops. Ultimately, the research argues that we are in a "productivity J-curve" phase where deliberate change management and cultural adaptation are the primary differentiators of competitive success.
