Engineering Leadership Capability through Micro Experiments
This research explores how micro-experiments and artificial intelligence are revolutionizing leadership development by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical capability. Rather than relying on traditional workshops, the research advocates for small, intentional behavioral tests conducted during daily work to foster genuine learning and agility. Artificial intelligence serves as a vital support system in this process, helping leaders translate abstract insights into concrete actions and structured reflections. By embedding development into the natural flow of work, organizations can democratize high-level coaching and move beyond static instruction toward a continuous learning identity. Ultimately, the research argues that a culture of safe experimentation combined with human-AI partnerships is essential for building sustained leadership excellence.

From Knowing to Becoming: How Micro-Experiments and AI Are Transforming Leadership Development
Abstract: This article examines how micro-experiments—small, intentional behavioral tests conducted in the flow of daily work—are reshaping leadership development, particularly when supported by artificial intelligence. Drawing on experiential learning theory, research on developmental experiences, and emerging evidence on AI-enabled learning, the article argues that the gap between knowing about leadership and becoming a more capable leader is best closed through structured cycles of action, reflection, and adaptation embedded in real work. The article reviews the limitations of traditional knowledge-transfer approaches, synthesizes evidence for experimentation-based learning methods, and explores how AI can scaffold the translation of insight into practice. Five evidence-based organizational responses are presented alongside industry examples spanning leadership development, management consulting, and technology. Three forward-looking pillars for building sustained leadership capability are proposed, emphasizing learning identity, democratized development, and human-AI learning partnerships.

Don't React, Act: Business Crisis Communication Made Simple, with Lea Greene
In this HCI Webinar, I talk with Lea Greene about her book, "Don't React, Act: Business Crisis Communication Made Simple." Lea Greene spent her Air Force career telling the truth on deadline. As a broadcast journalist for American Forces Network, she reported from Korea, Germany, Bosnia, and Iraq. She later served seven years as a base spokesperson with final release authority over worldwide RQ-4 Global Hawk operations. Today she helps business leaders stay human, think clearly, and build trust in an AI-driven world. She owns Top Ten Communication and she teaches AI to business owners, chambers, and public information officers. Her message to leaders is short. Every hard moment is a communication moment. The tools keep changing. The trust problem does not.

The Architecture of Apathy - Mapping the Boredom Burnout Matrix
This research examines the complex relationship between job boredom, burnout, and work engagement, arguing that these states often coexist in distinct psychological profiles rather than acting as isolated experiences. Drawing on a significant 2026 longitudinal study, the research highlights how workplace boredom is a dangerous precursor to cynicism and severe disengagement if left unaddressed by leadership. The research identifies role conflict as a primary driver of poor well-being, while emphasizing that learning opportunities serve as the most effective defense against professional stagnation. To combat these issues, the research advocates for evidence-based strategies such as proactive monitoring, meaningful job design, and fostering a culture of continuous growth. Ultimately, the research provides a framework for organizations to move beyond one-size-fits-all wellness programs toward precision interventions that address the multi-dimensional nature of employee health.
