Interactive Model Diagram

The interactive model diagram helps you visualize and explore the relationships between key components that influence faculty job satisfaction and professional commitment in academic settings.

How to Use the Model Diagram:

  1. Explore the Components: The diagram shows four interconnected elements of faculty satisfaction and commitment:

    • Blue box: Key Determinants (foundational factors that influence satisfaction and commitment)

    • Green box: Faculty Job Satisfaction (contentment with various aspects of academic work)

    • Yellow box: Professional Commitment (psychological attachment to discipline and institution)

    • Red box: Institutional Outcomes (results that emerge from satisfaction and commitment)

  2. Learn Detailed Information: Click on any component to open a detailed information window that explains:

    • What the component means in academic contexts

    • Key elements and dimensions within each component

    • Research evidence supporting its importance

    • Practical applications for academic leaders and faculty members

  3. Rearrange the Diagram: Drag any component box to reposition it within the diagram. The connecting arrows will automatically adjust to follow the components, allowing you to create different visual arrangements that may better represent your understanding or institution.

  4. Reset the Diagram: If you want to return to the original layout, click the "Reset Diagram" button at the bottom of the display.

 

Self-Assessment Tool

The self-assessment tool helps faculty members evaluate their own levels of satisfaction and commitment, identifying strengths and areas for potential improvement.

How to Use the Self-Assessment:

  1. Begin the Assessment: Click the "Begin Assessment" button to start the questionnaire.

  2. Answer the Questions: You'll be presented with 20 statements about your academic experience. For each statement, use the slider to indicate your level of agreement from "Strongly Disagree" (1) to "Strongly Agree" (5).

  3. Navigate the Assessment: Use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons to move through the questions. Your answers are saved as you progress.

  4. Review Your Results: After completing all questions, you'll see:

    • Category scores showing your levels across all four components

    • A personalized diagram with your scores displayed

    • Detailed interpretations of what your scores mean

    • Personalized recommendations based on your specific pattern of responses

  5. Explore Your Diagram: Just like in the model diagram, you can click on any component in your results diagram to learn more about that aspect of faculty satisfaction and commitment.

  6. Retake if Desired: You can retake the assessment at any time by clicking the "Retake Assessment" button at the bottom of your results page.

These interactive tools can be used together for a comprehensive understanding of faculty satisfaction and commitment:

  1. Start with the Model: Begin by exploring the interactive model to understand the theoretical framework and research behind faculty satisfaction and commitment.

  2. Take the Assessment: Complete the self-assessment to see how your personal experience aligns with the model.

  3. Compare and Reflect: Use your assessment results alongside the detailed information from the model to identify:

    • Areas where your academic environment is supporting your satisfaction and commitment

    • Potential gaps or opportunities for enhancement

    • Specific strategies that might improve your professional experience

  4. Develop Action Plans: Based on your assessment results and the research-based information, consider concrete steps you might take to enhance your satisfaction and commitment as a faculty member.
